A well-known feature of Nottingham life, Waterstones bookshop operates as a valuable resource for local writers and readers. A series of events in the Sillitoe Room bears witness to the thriving love of books and to the equally thriving writing community in Nottingham.
“Our beautiful Victorian building hosts five floors of literary wonder, including a range of contemporary Fiction amongst the largest to be found anywhere in the country, a Children's section as bright and wide as the sky, that is always bustling with fun activities and things to do, and a café on the third floor where you can browse and relax in a peaceful atmosphere.”
On 25th November, 2017, Waterstones will host the launch of the Peacebuilders anthology in the Sillitoe* Room.
Five Leaves Bookshop opened in 2013, the first independent bookshop to open in any UK city centre this century. It is a radical bookshop specialising in books on politics, cityscape/landscape, fiction, poetry, LGBT, counterculture and international writing, and it also has an excellent children's section and a good general stock.
Their programme of speakers and live events, and their support for independent writers, publishers and thinkers makes 5 Leaves a small stock bomb that packs a massive punch in the cultural life of Nottingham.
On 11th December, 5 Leaves bookshop will host a live event featuring music and poetry reading from the Peacebuilders anthology.
